Why We Exist
Across the country, rural communities are facing a growing wildfire threat. Dry conditions, drought, wind, and limited resources are putting productive land at risk.
For family farms and ranches, wildfire can destroy more than acreage. It can burn fencing, equipment, hay, grazing land, livestock habitat, homes, and decades of work passed from one generation to the next.
In many of these places, the first call for help goes to a rural or volunteer fire department. These responders are often neighbors, producers, business owners, parents, and community members who step forward when the land is under threat.
